Helloo, only 2 blogs this week (3 now)? What the heck? :(
Today I'm going to talk about myself and my country (wooho!). Since I figured you probably don't know a lot about Iceland. One fact, we are only 300.000 inhabitants here, I think about 200.000 in Reykjavík, the capital. You probably won't find any Icelander under 60 that doesn't speak English.
(< my friend and I)
March! We love March. In Iceland March is the month when men grow a mustache to raise cancer awareness. This has been a huge success this year and last year, both raising a lot of money and awareness.
me and the reason I can't walk and am like a stranded whale right now on the lazy boy! Holy shit, my feet hurt. >
This week has also been full of traditions. Monday was "bolludagur" which means... wow, my vocabulary just vanished from my head. Here's a picture! Nomnomnom. Here's a photo of one cute... whatsitsname? So, Tuesday was sprengidagur, which means "bursting day," because the tradition is that you eat so much you're about to burst. It's because this is before the lent in christian tradition.
Wednesday was öskudagur, "ash Wednesday" which is similar to Halloween. It used to be a great Nordic tradition where kids put "öskupokar" or "ashbags" on other people (while they're not looking) but now it's just "halloween 2" where kids go to stores in costumes and companies and sing for candy.
I really have to go now, but I'm so afraid I'll get my car stuck on the way but I really can't walk because my feet are ALL blistery (/whining). (uptate: I managed to drive my tiny Nissan Note car out of the parking lot, but I decided to park at my neighbour's lot when I came back, because big jeeps seem to have a problem getting in and out of the parking lot)
Japan is on my mind today. My heart hurts so much when I read news like this.
All my thoughts to everyone connected to this horrible nature disaster and most of all to everybody living there. <3
PS. I'm not that good at blogging about these kind of things, I usually write about personal problems, aches and usually something too personal which I don't know if is appropriate in this blog amongst your Super-Mario-Lord-of-the-Rings themed blogs.
PS2!! I'm going to sew a Frodo (LOTR) costume tomorrow. My class is dressing up as LOTR on the 12th of April, you'll get photos then. I'm Frodo (EXCITEMENT!).
